I mentioned previously about routines and how important they are. Well habits are what make routines work. I am not going to sugar coat it either, it will be work. You will find yourself having days where you just don’t want to but guess what? When it is a habit you just automatically do it. Routines and habits help you run on autopilot.
Let’s take a look at 15 habits you need to start going into 2023.
-Drink more water. I know you know the benefits. Just do it. This Stanley water bottle is all over Tiktok and is an absolute must have
-Challenge yourself. Make life interesting. Each month I start a new challenge. Most of my 2023 will consist of a monthly no spend challenge
-Meditate 2-5 times a week. Set a goal and stick to it. When you don’t stick to it it doesn’t work.
-Start a journal. Dump all those thoughts onto paper so you can close some of those open brain tabs. This is a big one and it plays into number 5.
-Reflect. Take time at the beginning or end of each day and reflect on how you want it to go or how it did go. I prefer the end of the day. I can look at what went wrong and how I would change things for tomorrow.
-Social media distancing. This one is HARD. But lets be honest with ourselves, we are all on social media entirely too much. Our brains are overloaded. Block out time each week to unplug, set down the phone, however you want to do it but stay off social media.
-Cook more at home. Now if you are a food travel influencer this one obviously isn’t for you but most of us aren’t. Cooking more at home makes you more connected to your home and your family. You can even get them involved, make it a thing. You can learn more about meal planning here.
-Spend more time outside. I am a huge fan of the 1000 hours outside a year movement. I struggle when it is cold, I don’t do cold BUT just getting outside for a few extra hours a week makes a difference.
-Read more. I don’t care if you aren’t a fan of reading. There is something out there for even the pickiest of readers.
-Self care. This one is huge and we could go on and on forever but you need to pick at MINIMUM of one thing to do A DAY that is self care. It doesn’t have to be big. Showering by yourself without kids can be self care. Simple, yet effective is what we are going for here.
This is just the beginning. Slowly picking up new habits and to replace the old bad ones we all have are key to having a routine, the key to balance and the key to making the most of our time. Do you have any habits you would like to add to the list?
